Jenn-Air Gas Cooktops

Jenn-Air gas cooktops have many excellent features and a few drawbacks. Jenn-Air has been around for a long time, with the company being formed in 1947. One of the products they developed and which few competitors have copied is the down draft range. It is useful when a stove is placed where an overhead exhaust hood is not feasible. This option is available for the cooktop.

Benefits of the Jenn-Air Gas Cooktop
The Jenn-Air gas cooktop has many features designed to ensure safety and ease of use. It has electronic ignition with a safety feature that will cause the burner to re-ignite the flame should it go out. It also has an ultra-high output burner that will really get water boiling fast as well as an ultra-low output burner that can be turned very low for simmering and melting. These burners allow quite a lot of flexibility in cooking options. For example, a large kettle can be placed over the ultra-high output burner and the contents can be heated quickly. Conversely, the ultra-low output burner is excellent for melting ingredients slowly without worrying about scorching. And the burners are sealed so that spills cannot seep in and disrupt the electronics.

The cooktop may be installed over an electric oven, allowing the use of two kinds of fuel for cooking. The top may also be converted to LP. The grates have a porcelain finish over cast iron, making clean up easy. The cooktop also has an attractive glass-ceramic finish, which makes wiping up spills easy. Jenn-Air offers a one year warranty from the date of purchase as well as an extended warranty plan. However, as with most warranties, the one year warranty will not cover improper installation.

Drawbacks of the Jenn-Air Gas Cooktop
While a Jenn-Air gas cooktop has many excellent feature and an appealing design, it also has its drawbacks. Many previous owners have written online reviews complaining about the electronic ignition. Should a pot boil over or the ignitor become damp, the burner may not light. Often times the electronic ignition will continue to attempt to ignite the burner even after it has been lit. If spills cannot be wiped up immediately, they may become burned onto the glass-ceramic top and be difficult to scrub without scratching the surface. While the downdraft option is convenient and works well, the cost of this option is usually quite high. Overall, the price of Jenn-Air products can be quite steep and one of the factors you take into consideration before purchase.
